Meet Molly and Morris featured in Behind Closed Lies
My Mom is Leslie
Gary, as many of you know, is my Muse—and in Behind Closed Lies, he even makes a small but memorable appearance. This novel has been a long time in the making. I started writing it in the early days of the pandemic when the world felt like it had shrunk to the size of our homes. My main outlet during that time was a weekly Zoom yoga class, which, to my amusement, Gary loved just as much as I did.
At the start of each session, we'd see all the other participants in their little video boxes, chatting and catching up before our instructor switched to presentation mode, leaving us with only her voice and guidance. As I stared at those flickering squares, each offering a brief, unguarded glimpse into someone else's life, I couldn't shake the feeling that it was a modern-day Rear Window.
That thought stuck with me. What if, like Jimmy Stewart's character in Hitchcock's classic, someone witnessed something they weren't supposed to? Something sinister. Something that no one else believed.
That What If took hold, and Behind Closed Lies was born.
